REDBRICK ARTISTS

For much of my life I have mainly worked as a figurative artist using a variety of media: pencil, charcoal, pastels watercolour and oils. Recently however, I have been exploring monoprinting which I have found offers freedom of expression and a very direct engagement with the finished process. Whilst drawing is still fundamental, I am continuing to develop my art practice specifically in relation to the human head, using stencils and exploring mark making with the addition of collage. I have attempted to take a semi abstract approach deconstructing the head and skull and sometimes incorporating stencils within the work as part of the finished piece. Inspiration has come from researching anatomy, icons and African and Mexican Art. I am currently exploring how to include text within a print, both to convey meaning as well to introduce a graphic element within the process.
