REDBRICK ARTISTS

I am a semi abstract artist. I’m inspired by the landscape around my new home in West Yorkshire and am captivated by the fast moving weather swooping across the valley, and the shapes and lines created by the sunlight and shadows. The ever changing colours are also often a starting point for my paintings. 

My work is about connections - to a place or person - and captures my response to a moment in time. As well as painting abstract landscapes, life drawing sessions with the Redbrick Artists have inspired me to explore painting semi abstract figures and portraits. I paint in acrylics and mixed media, sometimes also adding collage. I usually build up paintings in layers, each layer responding to the one below, building up a sense of history and depth.
