REDBRICK ARTISTS

As a child I enjoyed collecting natural objects - shells, acorns, fragments of egg shell with their soft blue interior. These structures and forms in the natural world, and plants in particular, fascinate me. I make drawings of cones, moths, plants etc, as a way of finding out about them and these first marks often remain vital to the way the work develops. I love the immediacy and information of drawing as a ‘first take’. The work continually changes and I try to keep it ‘uncertain’ until there is a semblance of the original beauty and balance that first drew me to it.
